Things at the dig site have been slowing down recently. Though the daytime weather has not changed too sharply, being a place located in the dry, hot west, it's nevertheless still cooled down a bit more than what the natives like, particularly at night. With news of the farmers dealing with livestock mutilations, no one is allowed at the site after sundown anymore (officially, though it's not like they have much security), and those who are there in the daytime are advised not to work alone for too long. The natives work at an unhurried pace, sipping water and having conversations oftentimes more than they uncover more of the structure.

The wind carries with it the sounds of mechanical noises occasionally as machines are brought to the caves not far away in an attempt to clear them out and ready them for tourists and spelunkers again. This is also slow-going, as those in the industry have found out what happened to those who have tried to clear the tunnel leading out and are wary of encountering anything similar in the caves.

So far, Sans will have found no matches for the symbols in any known human language. However, as more and more of the base of the main ruin is exposed, he will be able to see that there are more symbols carved into the raised edges of the base. These mostly match the ones on top of the ruins, particularly the main symbol, which appears several times over. There are new symbols being revealed as the team chips away, though. If the ones on top of the ruins are the title and summary of a book, for example, the ones around the base are the body text of said book.
