PREMISE
Characters are transported to San Benedicto Canyon through mysterious means, on the site of an archaeological dig in the process of documenting the ruins they woke up in. They'll find that being in this world corrupts their bodies and minds, but will need to do further investigating to figure out why — and, perhaps more importantly, if there's a way to revert the changes. Rather than being based on monsters and myths, players will get to customize their characters' mutations based on one of five different categories. They will get to design everything from the details of their physical forms to their newly-manifesting powers.
While the player characters' changes are the biggest focus of the game, the PCs aren't the only ones changing. Events will center around anomalies that take place in the city, and will affect NPCs and PCs alike. Such as in Ito's work, these events will focus on the idea of normal becoming abnormal, and comfort giving way to terror. The setting will grow and change depending on how characters adapt to a life where strange and unpredictable things happen. Whether the weirdness gets stamped out or embraced depends entirely upon the players' choices in-game.
Will you try to unravel the city's tangled past, or would you rather look to the future? Will you embrace your changes, or try to find any way to reverse them? Will you work together, or are you a lone wolf, only concerned about your own survival? All of these choices and more will shape the world around you, so choose wisely, if there's a "wise" choice to be made at all.
