By now, Maka's father's corpse is the only specimen -- or living thing -- present in that wing of the lab. It's eerily silent, save for the buzzing of the fluorescent lights above it, though the light seems polluted. It flickers and goes black -- it doesn't go out, but the light itself turns an inky black periodically, somehow able to shine down on Mr. Mankato's body with all its absence of color.

The growth of his fungus-like flesh has extended around the room, creeping over the floors and up the walls. Eyes embedded in the skin open and swivel around to look at Sans when he enters.
