June 2021

Shocking both arrivals and natives alike, a group of people are pulled from their homes and deposited on top of some ancient ruins.

Given shelter at a 5-star hotel, the newbies get a set of mysterious phone calls...

Shaking off the ghostly encounter, they're all invited to a welcoming party at one of the local high schools. That's when disaster strikes -- an earthquake, one that doesn't just topple people over. The new arrivals, as well as some locals, start to change.

July 2021

Shocked by the sudden influx of monsters in their city, San Benedicto's top scientific and religious institutions start some experimenting using transformed volunteers. All sorts of side-effects are felt, leading some into a religious frenzy and others experiencing medication side-effects that are out of this world.

Afterward, those affected are compensated with money and a promise that no more grants will be afforded to those looking to study this phenomenon.

August 2021

In preparation for Founder's Day, the city's most beloved holiday, candies are passed out to those who'd like free samples. But some transformed start to feel some interesting effects...

It all clears up in about a week, luckily, just in time for the Founder's Day celebrations at the lake! But nobody expects the appearance of some leeches that latch onto partygoers, slowly re-shaping their personalities into perfect -- albeit a tad cannibalistic -- homemakers.

September 2021

After last month's escapades, people have started to become more and more suspicious of monsters, and of the otherworldly visitors who seemed to kick off the transformations. The sentiment shifts from friendly and curious to more hostile and unwelcoming, though there are still places where monsters will be given a warm welcome.

A mysterious user posts a request on the network: "Draw a house, a tree, and a person." As drawings start to trickle in, participants find themselves getting psychoanalyzed...

Eventually, one intrepid young skeleton tracks the source of the post to an office building downtown. There, he finds Dr. Amy Kassabian, turned into a Mechanical and fused with her psychiatrist's office.

The others who spoke with her continued to feel the effects from speaking to the "helpful psychiatrist" for several weeks...

October 2021

Several characters find themselves haunted by the ghosts of girls long since dead. These spirits appear malevolent at first, but those who reach out with kindness see that their kindness has been returned.

Throughout the course of the month, several characters work together to piece together the mystery of who, or what, brought about the girls' end. After putting their heads together and comparing notes, they find that the culprit is the same for each of the 10 ghosts: one Dylan McNamara, the beloved talk show host in charge of the I Bet segment that many of said characters have appeared on.

From there, they hatched a plan to catch Dylan. Evidence gathered, ghostly intimidation used, and disguises donned, they eventually manage to force a confession.

He barely spends one night in jail, however, before something sees to his bloody end...

And everyone who showed the ghosts kindness and helped them find peace are given Halloween gifts as one final kindness before their restless souls vanish.

November 2021

A benign-looking message appears on the network asking what canyonites are thankful for. Several people share messages of friends, family, and good fortune, but a few hours later, they find they have no recollection of the memories they shared...

However, they were granted new memories, swapping theirs for the memories of another participant in the thread. From there, the swapped pairs began to switch and meld, taking on each others' personalities, memories, and even appearances.

Meanwhile, livestock mutilations have been reported near the farms... A bounty is issued, and canyonites are on the case!

December 2021

A whisper on the wind asks, "Who are you?"

Those who have been nice receive a gift, a boon of some sort. Those who were naughty, however... They're cursed with some sort of malady or affliction.

January 2022

The livestock mutilations have turned to grisly murders, and they're getting closer to the city. As investigations continue, something else takes place...

PCs find themselves present in someone else's dreams. In fact, dreams have been going haywire all over the place... Others receive visions coming from an unknown source, giving clues about the murders.

After investigation, the PCs discover something living in the cave walls, something with more hands than anything... The murders calm down, but did an appeasement keep them from happening again, or is something more sinister responsible for the end of the bloodshed?

February 2022

A glittering red pollen descends upon the canyon. All good, wholesome, loving feelings are amplified... to disastrous results.

Those affected are compelled to create some sort of display to capture the attention of the apple of their eye. Whether they reciprocate or not, something special happens... Love? Disgust? It depends.

In addition, one of the people from the ruins took this to particularly extreme heights, leaving a series of murder victims scattered around as love letters. Thus far, they remain unsolved.

On the plus side, someone threw a dinner party! Ain't that sweet?

March 2022

Not for the first time, the canyon is ravaged by an earthquake. Soon after, the stench of rot and decay spreads, unavoidable, throughout San Benedicto.

Unfortunately, the already-unstable tunnel out of the canyon has collapsed entirely. Its mouth is nothing but rubble. Though the shifting of the ground has revealed something... The discovery of a body long-since thought to be lost.

That of lead archaeologist Maka Mankato's father, clutching an old journal to his chest.

What's more, under the cloud of the scent of rot, the residents of the canyon begin to change in horrid ways... And the earthquake's aftershocks start to take hold.

A burst of lightning brings forth a transcript of the journal Maka's father was holding onto, complete with strange symbols to decipher. The body itself holds its fair share of secrets as well, as one snooping Spiritual discovers.

The canyon's resident philanthropist Moses Afolabi donates money to rescue efforts as the city continues to descend into chaos from the rash of transformations. It seems like working together counteracts some of the worst effects of the earthquakes, but it isn't until yet another quake rocks the ground that (almost) everything seems to reverse...

April 2022

In the wake of the recent death and destruction, a mandatory emergency census has been issued. It has some strange questions, however... But the mayor doesn't seem to know where the extras came from.

Lies become true, and something looms on the horizon...

May 2022

As reconstruction efforts are underway, one day, every bit of power in the city shuts off.

The shadows physically pull apart select residents of the canyon, who are split into two bodies: one representing every negative emotion they have, and the other representing every positive emotion.

As dark and light halves fight, it seems the only way to bring some power back is to embrace and come together. However, that's not the only thing keeping the city in the dark... There's a mysterious substance covering the power grid, and the mayor is looking for volunteers to help clean it up.

Unfortunately, it doesn't go smoothly, as those who help end up plagued by visions of those that they know, urging them to go into the caves... Why could that be?

But some intrepid canyonites do manage to get some of the power back on. Even though one of them was very nearly lost after giving in to the call to go deeper...

June 2022

It's not quite an earthquake, but a rumbling slithers through the canyon, darkening the lights for a second before they glare on again. It leaves some canyonites with an aura that amplifies certain emotions while dimming others.

Mostly, it fades away, but in some cases, a murder-suicide is the only way to get back to normal.

July 2022

A fireworks display causes those who observe it to see visions of their own deaths. There's one way to stop it, though... A small (or deadly) task you have to do to someone else in the canyon to prevent your grisly fate from taking place.

The mayor, after being informed that the caves are more dangerous than previously thought, has agreed to station guards around its entrance. Entering them becomes near-impossible without being crafty (or violent) in some way.

September 2022

With an uneventful August, San Benedicto's citizens have been lured into a false sense of security. That is, until the shooting stars cascade across the night sky.

Between daytime and nighttime, something happens to those who witnessed the sight... Differing between monster type, the effects change either the body or the mind.

October 2022

Everyone's favorite resident misogynist throws a Halloween party at his new club. Nothing could possibly go wrong, right?

November-December 2022

Whoops! Something went wrong. Near the end of November leading into December, residents of the canyon can feel themselves being stalked by an unknown entity. As it turns out, these masks look similar to the ones handed out on Halloween...

Each masked menace brings about your end differently. Hopefully it'll stop before the holly jolly season is over...
